Mahant Bachittar Singh College of Engineering and Technology organized an awareness seminar on cybersecurity and electromagnetic radiation (EMR) on 22.11.2024 in collaboration with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to address ongoing mobile call, sms frauds and cyber threats to common citizens.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Dinesh Gupta (Principal), Dr. Amrik Singh (Vice Principal), Mr. Parveen Singh (Dean Academics), Mr. H.S. Gill (DSW), Ms. Ridhika Sharma (HOD, CSE), Ms. Jasmeen Kaur (HOD, IT), other department heads, faculty members as well as students.
Dr. Dinesh Gupta (Principal), welcomed the gathering and highlighted the crucial role of digital literacy in today’s interconnected world. He stressed the importance of staying informed about the latest cyber threats to protect digital assets.
Experts from both the DoT and the Ministry of Communications participated in this session. These experts included Sh. Sunil Lakhera (Director DoT), Mr. Bhupender Dhiman (ADG), Sh. Ashutosh Gupta (ADET), and Sh. Shubham Yadav (AD). Additionally, Mr. Abhimanyu (Manager), Mr. Sukhminder Singh (Senior Manager), and Mr. Amit Kumar (Deputy Manager) from the Ministry of Communications also participated.
Mr. Bhupender Dhiman discussed the latest cyber threats along with current ongoing mobile frauds and provided valuable tips to identify frauds and safety. He also stressed upon using the government initiative on portal “Sanchar Saathi” whereby, the DoT is helping the citizens to identify the frauds and threats for better and safe environment. Mr. Shubham Yadav (AD) explained how Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR) works and addressed common concerns about its potential health impacts.
Dr. Sanjeev Singh (HOD/ T&P Incharge) thanked the DoT and the Ministry of Communications for the initiative and informative awareness seminar for the students to become threat savvy and responsible citizens.
