Python Workshop to Empower Students at MBSCET, Jammu

Jammu, 18 April 24 – Mahant Bachittar Singh College of Engineering and Technology in collaboration with Techno Solution Pvt Ltd , Jammu, conducted a comprehensive Workshop “Mastering Python” aimed at enhancing the programming skills of students for the 4th semester Computer Science and Information Technology departments. Mr. Balbir Singh, Director of Techno Solution, led the workshop, providing invaluable insights and hands-on training.

Recognizing its importance in today’s technology landscape, MBSCET and Techno Solution came together to offer this workshop, ensuring students are equipped with essential Python skills to excel in their careers. The workshop covered fundamental concepts of Python programming, advanced techniques, and real-world applications. Participants got the chance to engage with Mr. Balbir Singh, ask questions, and receive personalized guidance to enhance their learning experience.

Through this Python Workshop, students not only acquired essential programming skills but also gain the confidence and expertise needed to thrive in the ever-evolving landscape of technology, making it a truly transformative experience for their academic and professional journey.Python workshop

On 28th-Feb-2024 a highly inspiring and motivating lecture for the students was conducted by APSH dept .The aim of the event was to encourage and inspire the students to reach their fullest potential and develop a strong sense of determination towards their goals.

The guest speaker for the event was Mr.Rahul Bhargav, an alumni of our college. Mr.Bhargav holds the prestigious position of an lieutenant in the Indian Army. In 2023,Mr.Bhargav  got commissioned as an officer in Indian Army. Only 12 officers were selected all over India and he was the  only one from Northern Command. He is Cross Country Gold medalist in OTA Chennai.

During the lecture, Mr.Bhargav shared his personal journey, challenges faced, and the valuable life lessons he learned during his time in the College. He delved into his personal journey in the Indian Army, highlighting the challenges and triumphs he encountered along the way. In addition, Lieutenant Bhargav emphasized the importance of starting to build essential interpersonal skills and  computer proficiency from the present moment.

The event was attended by both faculty members and students, who eagerly participated in the interactive session following the lecture. The students had the opportunity to ask questions and seek guidance from Rahul Bhargav, who graciously provided insights and advice on personal growth, career choices, and developing leadership qualities.

Campus Placement drive by “RVS iGlobal, Jammu” of final year students.

MBSCET ORGANIZED PLACEMENT DRIVE

 Mahant Bachittar Singh College of Engineering Technology, Jammu organized Campus Placement drive by “RVS iGlobal, Jammu” on 12-12-2023. Final year students of B.E. from MBSCET, GCET & YCET participated in the drive. A total of seven students were selected, in which six students were from MBSCET & one student from YCET on the job role of “Trainee IT Engineer” on the package of 3.00-4.00 LPA.

Mr. Sandeep Sharma, Chief Operating Officer; Ms. Biranjeet Kour, Corporate Affairs Associate; Ms. Chetna Kour, HR Executive; Ms. Twinkle Bhat, HR Associate; and Mr. Ashish Rai, IT Team Manager were company representative.

Mr. Ravinder Kumar, Incharge, Training & Placement Cell & Ms. Jasleen Kour, Assistant Professor (CSE) coordinated the event.

An interactive Session between Parents, Mentors & Course Teacher of B.E 1ST Semester (All branches) was held on 13TH December 2023 from 10:00am to12:00pm in the Mechanical Seminar Hall.

 

The event witnessed an overwhelming turnout of parents, who actively participated in discussions concerning academic journey of their ward. Teachers/Mentors provided valuable feedback and guidance, ensuring a holistic and personalized approach to academic development.

 The event was chaired by the esteemed Head of the Department, Prof. Sarbjeet Kour, who provided valuable guidance and support throughout the proceedings.

Mahant Bachittar Singh College of Engineering and Technology organized a “Fresher’s Fiesta” for the batch 2023 on 9th Dec 2023.  The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries symbolizing the auspicious beginning of the fresher’s journey.

Dr. (Prof.) Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Principal delivered a welcome address, wherein he emphasized the significance of such extra-curricular activities in addition to academics for holistic development. Thereafter, the students begin with exhibiting their talents through various performances including traditional and Bollywood dance, melodic singing, Qawwali and a glamorous ramp walk. Exciting games were also organized to engage everyone.                        Mr. Dilpreet Singh and Ms. Indeep Kour was adjudged as Mr. and Ms. Fresher respectively.

Prof. (Dr.) Amrik Singh (Vice Principal), S. Hardip Singh Gill (DSW), HoD’s and faculty members were also present during the function.

Prof. Parveen Singh (Dean Academics), Prof. Sarbjeet Kour (HOD APSH) and Prof. Shivangi Gupta (Asst. Prof. CSE) coordinated as convener and co-conveners of the event. Ms. Nitika and                                 Ms. Harsimrat Kour were the students coordinator. The program was concluded by Prof. Shivangi Gupta who presented vote of thanks.

MBSCET organised a user awareness programme on the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) through Google Meet.

Mahant Bachittar Singh College of Engineering and Technology organised a user awareness programme on the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) through Google Meet. The event was held on the 6th Dec.2023 and it was attended by staff and students of the college.

The programme featured special guest speaker, Ms. Ananya Guha, who provided valuable insights on the significance of NDLI in today’s fast-paced digital era. It is a project under Ministry of Education, Government of India and is developed, operated and maintained by the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. Ms. Ananya Guha highlighted that NDLI provides users with unlimited access to a vast collection of books, videos, and courses, completely free of cost.  NDLI stands as a groundbreaking resource for learners of all age group.

The user awareness programme received an enthusiastic response from the participants, showcasing their eagerness to harness the vast possibilities offered by NDLI.

The programme was organised by the Ms. Surinder Kour Bali (Assistant Professor IT Department & Convenor LAC) and Ms. Paramjit kour (Librarian).

Prof. (Dr.) Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Principal MBSCET congratulated organizers for their commendable efforts in organizing the successful event.

MBSCET EED Conducts Inter-semester Quiz Competition “The Challengers’’

The Electrical Engineering Department of Mahant Bachittar Singh College of Engineering & Technology Jammu organised a inter-semester quiz competition “The Challengers’’ for the students to test their knowledge. The quiz consisted of three rounds of questions, each with a different topic. The first round consisted of questions related to general knowledge followed by second round that was technical round and the last round consisted of reasoning and mental ability type of questions.

Two students from each semester (3rd, 5th & 7th) participated in quiz-competition forming team A, team B, and team C respectively. The quiz competion was attended by all the teaching faculty members of EED, MBSCET & Prof. Nitin Langer HOD Electrical Department co-ordinated the competition as judge. Team B (5th semester students– Ms. Akansha Thappa and Mr. Abhay Kumar), finally won the competition and was awarded with letter of appreciation by HOD, EED.

At the end, Prof. Nitin Langer HOD Electrical Department motivated the students and encouraged them to further participate in such activities in future to build up their general knowledge and also boost their confidence.  Dr. Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Principal MBSCET, Jammu also congratulated Prof. Nitin Langer HOD and all the associated staff members for successful conduct of quiz competition.

MBS College of Engineering and Technology (MBSCET) organized 15-hour training program on SOTI Snap.

In collaboration with SOTI, MBS College of Engineering and Technology (MBSCET) successfully organized a comprehensive 15-hour training program on SOTI Snap. Aimed at Computer Science and Information Technology (CSE and IT) students in their 5th and 7th semesters, the program provided hands-on experience with the SOTI Snap mobile application tool.

The concluding day of the program featured an insightful interaction with Mr. Ishaan Mahajan, Senior Engineer at SOTI. Mr. Mahajan shared valuable perspectives on the significance of app-based technologies and their high demand in the software industry. This interaction enhanced students’ understanding of the real-world applications of their newly acquired skills.

Following the training, Winnovation announced the “SOTI SNAP Best APP Contest.” The contest aimed to challenge students to apply their training in developing mobile apps using SOTI Snap. Notably, the contest had an impressive 89 student registrations, with a total of 125 app attempts. Among these, 52 apps were published, and 40 were considered for evaluation.

The award ceremony, scheduled for 7th November 2023, took place in the CSE seminar room. The event was graced by the presence of HOD CSE Ms. Ridhika Sharma, HOD IT Ms. Jasmeen Kour, and Director of Winnovation Services PVT LTD, Mr. Sarbarinder Singh. The ceremony also featured Mr. Raees and Ms. Pavneet, Lead Trainers from Winnovation North, and Mr. Navdeep Singh, Marketing Head from SOTI.

The winners of the SOTI SNAP Best APP Contest have been selected based on their outstanding app creations:

  • 1st Winner (Cash Prize Rs. 5000): Krishna, CSE 5th Sem
  • 1st Runner-up (Cash Prize Rs. 3000): Mr. Deepender, CSE 5th Sem
  • 2nd Runner-up (Cash Prize Rs. 2000): Ms. Shreya, CSE 5th Sem

At this occasion, Dr. Dinesh Kumar Gupta , Principal MBSCET , emphasized that the success of the SOTI SNAP training program and the vibrant participation in the contest showcased the commitment of MBSCET, SOTI, and Winnovation in providing students with practical skills and opportunities. This event serves as a testament to the synergy between academia and industry, fostering innovation and preparing students for the dynamic landscape of the software industry. Tribute to Srimaan Mahant BAchittar Singh Ji

MBSCET Jammu organized series of events to pay tribute to Srimaan Mahant Bachittar Singh Ji on his barsi on 3rd Nov, 2023. At the outset of the function floral tributes were paid by S. Lakhbir Singh Ji Bawa Advisor, Dr. Jaswant Singh Retd. Director, Animal Husbandry Jammu and Chairman IGNOU Centre Sant Mela Singh College of Education Jammu, Dr. Harbaksh Singh, Chief Medical Officer Jammu, dignitaries, staff members and students. During tribute session Dr. Jaswant Singh threw light on the background of Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch. He highlighted the achievements of Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch and specially contributions made by Srimaan Mahant Bachittar Singh Ji during his life time’s devotion towards society as a whole and emphasized human values. He also highlighted the achievement of Srimaan Mahant Manjit Singh Ji, Sole Trustee MBS College in establishing Engineering College as per the vision of Srimaan Mahant Bachittar Singh Ji.

A seminar on the welfare of elderly persons was also organized in which Mr. Manjit Singh, Tehsil Welfare officer Jammu and Mr. Ranvir Singh Chib, Regional Manager, Indian Pollution Control Association were the main speakers. Mr. Manjit Singh shared his valuable insights about the challenges being faced by the elderly people in our society and we should look after the welfare of the elderly people.  Mr. Ranbir Singh Chib in his address highlighted the dangerous effects of plastics waste and suggested to manage the wastage scientifically to make environment worth living and pollution free.

A blood donation camp in collaboration with Directorate of Health services, J&K was organized in the college campus under the supervision of Dr. Harbaksh Singh along with the team of doctors and para staff from Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu, in which about 40 students donated blood.

A cleanliness drive under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to clean Tavi River was also organized by the college under the supervision of Prof. Abhijit Saini, convener Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Prof. Ripu Daman Singh, Convener NSS Unit in which about 100 NSS volunteers participated.

Prof.(Dr.) Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Principal addressed the gathering and expressed deep gratitude to all the distinguished guests who participated in the event.

Prof.(Dr.) Amrik Singh Vice Principal, Prof. Parveen Singh Dean Academics, S.Hardip Singh Gill D.S.W, HoD’s, teaching, non-teaching faculty members and students  remain present during these events.
